Our Review:

For a quick, pampering, relaxing getaway without the kids we love the Dead Sea spa hotels. We have been searching for the best one.

So, the Isrotel Nevo is our favorite so far, by far, after visiting several other Dead Sea area hotels (see our other reviews). Hey, it’s hard work but someone’s gotta do it, right?

The staff are helpful, courteous and professional. Wait staff are prompt to clear away plates during the meals.

The dairy restaurant in the lobby serves delicious lunch which is perfect for spending some time relaxing before checking in. Although the rooms have almost always been ready early when we’ve arrived at lunchtime, even if not, it’s still great to chill in the lobby and enjoy the smoked salmon croissant sandwich or pizza. The hot apple pie with its buttery flakey crust and vanilla ice cream is delightful, as well as the gourmet espresso milkshake drinks.

The atmosphere is calm, soothing, airy, beautiful, and classy but unpretentious.

Everything in the spa has a higher level of comfort than the other spas we’ve visited so far. The acoustics are pretty good for keeping the noise levels down. The size seems just right – comfy, spacious, and not too large or noisy. The steps down into the saltwater pool bring you instantly neck deep into the water, and it’s heavenly (the other pools seem to get deeper very gradually, so you have to wade in for a while, and it doesn’t have the same effect). The saltwater pool is both indoor and outdoor, with a connecting portion that runs through an opening in the glass walls.

As for the spa, we like to take it in relaxing rounds: float in the saltwater pool, then shower off and enjoy the jacuzzi, then go to the sauna or the swimming pool outside, then relax on the loungers for a while until we are ready for another round or lunch. Lunch is a delicious grill poolside with the best burgers we’ve had just about anywhere. The pool has 2 split levels, with a heated pool on the top level and a wide beautiful waterfall feature that fills the area with the sound of rushing water.

The meals in the dining hall are wonderful, with a great selection and something for everyone, very flavorful and not too sweet or salty for our tastes. The dinner options even include some creative chef-plated options, which the wanna-be foodie in me enjoys. It’s always an interesting medley of tastes and textures.

The rooms are comfortable, and all seem to have beautiful views of the Dead Sea.

This will sound silly, but the spa locker rooms are one of our favorite things about the Nevo – it’s the only spa hotel we’ve seen so far that is truly set up to enjoy your day there after checkout. The locker room has lockers inside the rooms (not out in the hallway like Herod’s), and you can set your own code easily to lock and open them, just like the hotel safes. There are comfortable showers with closing glass doors, and the best part – there are actual changing cubicles where you can get dressed in privacy and comfort. Strangely, none of the other hotels we’ve been to so far have had this feature. So what we do on checkout day is dress in our bathing suits and robes from the hotel room, pack a small bag with our shoes and change of clothes, and shampoo and shower gel from the room, then we leave our suitcases in the car or at the lobby while we go take in another lovely day at the spa.

We are searching for the best Dead Sea hotel! Please let us know – if you’ve been to the Nevo, what do you think? Or do you have another favorite we should check out next?

Challenge/ Potential Negative:

It’s a bit weird to say this but we were hard-pressed to find a negative!
