They didn’t have enough towels at the pool. Wish they had netflix on the TV for the kids.
The Dan Eilat was an amazing place to stay during our Chanukah holiday. We were there with all 4 kids and my husband’s mother from London.
The Dan was a perfect choice for us, and we look forward to returning, it’s located on the quieter end of the tayelet, and close to everything.
Even in (early) December, we were able to enjoy the outdoor heated pools and some water sports on the Sea.
The hotel breakfast was beautiful, with varied and tasty fresh choices, including a smoothie bar and a decadent sufganiyot selection.
The hotel’s outdoor heated pools and water slide were enjoyed by all ages, and we enjoyed ordering lunch from the hotel grill restaurant by the pool each day.
With easy access from the pool area down to the tayelet and sea, we easily popped over to swim in the sea or to the nearest water sports section about 100m away to partake in those activities. Parasailing was an incredible experience and highly recommended!
A car really isn’t needed since the location is just fantastic, situated right on the quieter end of the tayelet it’s a nice walk into the busier parts. Taxis are always available at the hotel for further excursions to the Dolphin Reef or Aquarium, but we mostly stayed around the hotel, including a comfortable 700m walk to the Ice Mall for ice skating, shopping, and arcade lovers amongst us.
There are several kosher restaurants along the tayelet and at the Ice Mall, and we enjoyed trying out a new one on each night of our stay.
This is a 5-star hotel, and it’s very comfortable, but the kids didn’t feel like it was super fancy or luxurious. For me, that was a plus, and felt surprisingly down to earth, beautiful, lovely, and relaxing, with all the best Eilat has to offer nearby.
The only challenge that could have possibly been avoided – when the hotel staff called the day before our arrival to see if we have any special needs, apparently I should have reminded them that we need 2 separate beds – although we booked rooms with 2 separate beds via Booking we were given rooms with 1 king size and the hotel said there was nothing they could do about it since they were full! After threatening to cancel our stay and some very unpleasant delays at the front desk, they managed to solve the issue for one of the rooms only. This wouldn’t prevent us from returning to the Dan, but we will be sure to remind them in advance and hope to avoid such an experience in the future.
